And while there’s nothing wrong with that, the options of ordering in and dining out are usually more expensive than cooking healthy meals at home while moving.

Remember that you’re going to need to empty your pantry, fridge and freezer prior to Moving day anyway, so your best option is to use up your food supplies before the move, thus eliminating any questions about whether or not to transport your food items. In most cases, the food found in your home will be tastier and healthier.

Do yourself a favor and cook the food that you already have in your home to maintain a healthier diet and save a lot of money too. Buy more food only to complete those home-made meals. Consider preparing your dishes in bulk so that you’re covered for a few days without having to interrupt your work to cook.

Some good meals that have proven to be ideal when moving include soups, stews, and pastas.

Do your best not to skip any meals

The home moving process requires a lot of energy and healthy food is the best kind of fuel to keep you going when things get tough. So, to start on the right track, start each day of the preparation period with a nutritious breakfast. You may get tempted to just start working on your moving tasks right after you get out of bed but a well-rounded breakfast will make sure your energy won’t drop like a stone well before noon.

If you’re moving locally and you don’t plan to spend too much time on the road when moving between the two homes, you should seriously think about stockpiling a number of healthy foods that travel well. That way, you won’t have to worry about food on moving day or the day immediately after it. Be ready to satisfy the hunger with (pasta) salads, vegetables, nuts, dried fruit, and of course – home-made sandwiches.

Make sure you’re drinking enough water, especially during a summer move when the heat can dehydrate your body too quickly. Stay properly hydrated when getting ready to move out – water and tea (particularly green tea with no added sugar) are the best options to supplement your healthy meals during a move.

Avoid drinking sodas and other carbonated drinks that tend to be high in sugar and low in nutrition. Any increased intake of carbohydrates will only make it worse for you as they’ll make you even thirstier and can easily contribute to sugar crashes and energy slumps – the last thing you need when moving home.
